Why female models get paid more than men!

The Model Factory

While we are constantly told that there is equality between the sexes in terms of pay, we seldom believe it. Modelling is one business that actually flips the stereotype on its head; women make more than men! We thought we should look at why this is, and the reasons are surprisingly simple.

It's estimated that women do over 65% of the total expenditure on clothing in the UK. One reason for this is that women, in general, enjoy shopping more than men and are more likely to replace items that haven't worn out for the sake of the latest trend. This is the main reason that more advertising budgets, and hence modeling jobs, are directed at women. In print, women sell to women and men sell to men - it's just the way it is! On the catwalk, the interest in high fashion among men is lower and so the male shows are less publicised and often smaller and the catwalk models get paid, in general, a bit less.
